Rafaela Zanetti

A father asked me to paint an image that represented his daughter. He wanted a portrait that would hold her energy, that would prevent her from being just a memory. A painting that would shine the same way her eyes shone. That would make noise, like the laughter of a child playing around the house. Rafaela does not fit into the absence. She exists in every color, in every line that defies silence. I chose tones that do not know how to say goodbye, lines that refuse to be a full stop. It is not a painting. It is a hug stretched out in time.
